31-year-old Alcolu man killed in single-vehicle wreck

ALCOLU – A 31-year old Alcolu man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck about 5:15 a.m. Sunday on Plowden Mill Road.

“The deceased is Wesley Allante Brown of Alcolu,” said Clarendon County Coroner Jackie Blackwell. “He died from multiple blunt force trauma.

Blackwell said that Brown lived not too far from where the wreck occurred.

Sgt. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 2013 Ford Taurus driven by the victim was traveling north on Plowden Mill Road when the vehicle ran off into the woods. The trooper said that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

The wreck occurred about 10 miles north of Manning near Westminister Presbyterian Church USA.
