Bertie Jefferson "Jeff" Marsh, 95, widower of Sarah Rogers Marsh, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at a local nursing facility.

Born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Chesterfield, he was a son of the late Bert Elbert Marsh and Mary Lee Ayers Marsh. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from civil service at Shaw Air Force Base. He was a member of Paxville Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Cleve Terrell Marsh (Kathy) of Jackson, Tennessee, and Dane Jeff Marsh of Sumter; one daughter, Dana Marsh Mitchell of Sumter; two grandchildren, Greg Mitchell and Jessica Morgan; three step-grandchildren, Harrison Jones, Celina Knipper and Meleah Johnston; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Lewis of Walhalla.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob Marsh, Patrick Marsh and Charlie Marsh; and a sister, Helen Tilford.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Paxville Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. In light of the coronavirus, the family requests that those in attendance please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter. The family especially thanks Stephanie Brown for her loving and compassionate care of Mr. Marsh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paxville Baptist Church, 10278 Lewis Road, Manning, SC 29102.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
