Bettie Ann Booth Klapthor, 96, widow of John Cornelius "Casey" Klapthor of Sumter, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Covenant Place.

Born on Dec. 18, 1924, she was a daughter of John Phillip Booth Jr. and Hascal "Hassie" Francena Parrot Booth. Bettie Ann attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She married John Cornelius "Casey" Klapthor on June 3, 1944. Bettie Ann was known and loved by her family and friends for how well she loved all of them. She had a deep abiding faith in Jesus, her best friend, and enjoyed sharing this with whoever would listen.

She is survived by one brother, John Phillip Booth III; four children and their spouses, Neil J. Klapthor and wife, Patricia, of Evans, Georgia, Lauren B. Klapthor and wife, Merrill, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Barbara K. Hornsby and husband, J. Larry, of Evans and Elizabeth Ann Beaty and husband, Robert H., of Sumter; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Peake officiating.

Due to COVID-19 requirements, the family is requesting all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
