Busy slate of tournaments this weekend set for Crestwood, Manning, Scott’s Branch

While area football teams kick off tonight, many of their basketball teams will be packing gyms across the tri-county. Crestwood, Manning and Scott’s Branch will all host preseason tournaments this weekend as teams gear up for the start of the winter season.
Crestwood will host the Knightsgiving Tip-Off, a four-team tournament. The first game, which is set to pit Christ Church against White Knoll, tips at 6:00, followed by Crestwood hosting Trinity Collegiate at 7:30. The losers will then plat at noon on Saturday, while the winners will meet at 1:30.
Over at Manning, the Lady Monarchs will host the M-Town Showdown Girls Basketball Tournament. Games will start at 5:30 on Friday, as Manning faces off against Palmetto in the high school gym. The other local team is Sumter High, who faces Marion at 8:30 in the high school gym. Everyone in the 12-team tournament will get a second game on Saturday. Games will start at 11 a.m.
Scott’s Branch will host the Clash Off I-95 Preseason Tournament. Games begin at 4:30 on Friday when CA Johnson faces Thomas Sumter in a girls matchup. That will be followed by the girls from Bowman and LMA facing off. After that, the boys from Mullins will face Ridgeland, followed by a girls game between East Clarendon and Cross. The boys from Laurence Manning and East Clarendon will close the day.
The second day will start at 12:30 on Saturday, kicking off with two games between the losers from Day 1 and a matchup between two sets of girls winners. The first new team in the mix is Ragin Prep, who will face the winner between LMA and East Clarendon at 4:15 p.m. The Scott’s Branch girls will then face the winner between CA Johnson and TSA. The Eagles will cap off the day against the winner between Mullins and Ridgeland.
The championships and consolation games will be played Sunday, starting with consolation games at 2:45. The girls championship will be played at 5:30, followed by the boys championship.
