Carolinas Bass Challenge launches Sept. 12 on Santee Cooper lakes

SUMMERTON - Anglers from across South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia will be heading to the Santee Cooper lakes on Sept. 12 in hopes of reeling in some big bass.

The Marshall's Marine Carolinas Bass Challenge is hosting the one-day tournament at John C. Land III Fishing Facility, 4404 Greenall Road, on the shores of Potato Creek for amateur anglers.

"This is a chance for everyone to enjoy the great resources that we have right here in South Carolina," said Justin Altman, co-owner of Marshall's Marine with locations in Lake City and Georgetown. "The tournament promotes the great fishing that we have here, the outdoors and all the recreational activities that we can enjoy in this area."

Altman said there will be two anglers per team with a five-bass limit.

"The boats take off from the landing early Saturday morning," Altman added. "Weigh-in will be at 3 p.m. at the landing."

Altman said that due to COVID-19, all spectators need to wear masks, and social distancing should be observed.

"We'd love to see people out cheering on the anglers, but we need to stay safe, too," Altman added.

Live results from the tournament will be posted on www.marshallsmarine.com as well as www.carolinasbasschallenge.com.
