Emma Suzanne Catoe of Sumter and Jonathan Hunter Ayres of Howell, New Jersey, were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Sumter.

The bride is the daughter of Allen and Lisa Catoe and the granddaughter of Larry and Pat Prince and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Catoe, all of Sumter. She graduated from Wilson Hall and from Winthrop University with an Early Childhood / Elementary Bachelor of Science degree. She is employed by Wilson Hall Lower School as a computer teacher, varsity tennis head coach, B-team basketball head coach and assistant varsity softball coach.

The bridegroom is the son of John and Kathy Ayres of Howell, New Jersey, and the grandson of John Cavanaugh and the late Ann Cavanaugh and the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ayres, all of Freehold, New Jersey. He attended Howell High School in Howell and graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He is employed by Eaton Corp. as an electrical engineer.

The Rev. Kevin Blalock officiated at the ceremony.

Music was provided by Kristen Lowe, pianist; and Rhonda Huffman, soloist.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a modern V-neck, chiffon lace dress with bell sleeves. She carried a bouquet of greenery infused with white roses.

Julia Sorrells served as maid of honor with Rebekah Richardson as matron of honor. Emily Robinson, Savannah Shelton, Mary Kennon Miles, Rosie McLaurin and Rachel Phelps served as bridesmaids. Liza Gooch was the flower girl.

Justin Ayres, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Stephen Borthayre, Nick Norman, Jansen Nash, Anthony Randall, Will Richardson and Walker Smith. Will Gooch was the ring bearer.

The reception was given by the bride's parents in the courtyard of First Baptist Church.

The rehearsal party was given by the bridegroom's parents at the Ayres' residence.

The couple will reside in Sumter.
