Christopher Jameson "Jamie" Baxley, 36, husband of Amanda Kaye Phillips Baxley, died on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Atlanta, he was a son of Leonard D. Baxley Jr. and Paula Ann Howell Durham. Mr. Baxley loved his family dearly. He was a former All-Star baseball player for Sumter PARD; a Four-World Champion in Ken po Karate and medaled in Junior Olympic Tae Kwon Do. He was self-employed in the home improvement business.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; his mother and stepfather, Dwayne Durham of Wedgefield; his father and stepmother, Vicky Lynn Baxley of Summerton; a son, Christopher Jameson Baxley II of Wedgefield; two daughters, Rachel Alexis Baxley of Wedgefield and Kandalyn Rebecca Baxley of Virginia; two stepsons, Cameron Turner and Mason Prescott, both of Sumter; and three brothers, Leonard D. "Trae" Baxley III of Summerton, Dalton Miller Baxley of Hinesville, Georgia, and Samuel Austin Baxley of Manning.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Pruden officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at 135 Curtiswood Drive, Sumter, and 40 Durham Court, Wedgefield.
