CLARENDON COUNTY - Signing up to make an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination can be intimidating for individuals that aren't computer savvy or don't have access to a computer or the internet.

The Clarendon County Fire Rescue Community Paramedic Program is coming to the aid of these people.

"It has been a challenge to get online and register for some of our citizens," said Clarendon County Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Brad C. Gerfin. "Our paramedics have been helping some of our homebound patients, but we wanted to reach out and help more of our citizens."

Gerfin said individuals who have been having problems registering online can call the Community Paramedic Program to schedule a time for a paramedic to come to their home with a laptop equipped with mobile WiFi and get them registered.

For assistance, call (803) 460-7228 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to schedule a time for a community paramedic to visit their home and assist them in registering for a vaccination appointment.

"The Community Paramedic Program is all about helping our citizens receive the health care that they need," Gerfin added.
