Dozens of Sumter students take part in 8th Manufacturing EXPO/STEAM Challenge Event

Chestnut Oaks Middle School students participated in the 8th-Annual Manufacturing EXPO/STEAM Challenge Event on Friday, March 1. Twenty eighth-graders and 10 seventh-graders were selected from each middle school in the area to partake in a full day of interactive technology and STEAM-related activities. The eighth-graders visited the different exhibitors on site as the seventh-graders competed against other schools in various areas of interest provided, such as robotics, engineering and mathematics, science, writing and the arts.

Congratulations to Jamaurion Durant and Samiya Oliver for winning distinguished medals in the area of engineering and mathematics in this year's competition.
