Francis Marion University point guard Kiara Croskey has been named the Conference Carolinas women's basketball Freshman of the Month for January.
The former Sumter High star was also the conference's pick for the opening two months of the season in November and December.
Croskey, the reigning SCHSL 5A player of the year, started all eight games in January and averaged 35.8 minutes per game. She averaged 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest, while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and 88.0 percent (22 of 25) from the free throw stripe. She also recorded 12 steals over the eight games and blocked three shots.
She scored in double figures seven of the eight games, including a career-high 20 points in a road game at Chowan University.
Francis Marion's next game will be at home on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. against Lees-McRae College. Prior to tip-off, FMU will honors its four seniors.
Croskey is a product of Sumter High School and is majoring in biology.
