Fozer M. Robinson Nelson celebrates 100th birthday

Fozer M. Robinson Nelson, widow of Franklin Nelson, celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 5, 2019, with family and friends.

Born on Oct. 5, 1919, in Clarendon County, she is the daughter of the late Zoya and Vinnie Robinson. Mrs. Nelson was raised in a Christian home and attended Little Bethel AME Church at an early age. While attending Little Bethel AME, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She later joined Laurel Hill AME Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities, including as a member of the Missionary Board, member of the Sunday school department and president of the senior choir.

Mrs. Nelson was employed by Clarendon School District 2 from Sept. 1, 1968, to May 23, 2003. She is a member of the NAACP and Eastern Star South Chapter 304. She enjoys cooking, sewing, gardening and visiting the sick. Her favorite Scriptures are Psalm 27 and Psalm 103.

Mrs. Nelson is the mother of four children, James Nelson, Clotell Nelson Ferrell, the late Robert Nelson and the late Celest Nelson. She is blessed to have 42 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Manning Mayor Julia A. Nelson signed a proclamation honoring Mrs. Nelson for her 100 years on Earth and wishing her many more.
