Brother George Washington Brown Sr. was born on July 20, 1946, in Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Jack and Betsy Porter Brown. He transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Sumter Health & Rehab Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was united in holy matrimony for 34 years to Louise China Brown. Brother Brown was a 1965 graduate of South Western High School in Suffolk. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 28, 1965. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he continued his employment as project manager of the Shaw Air Force Base Commissary as well as a security guard for several years. Brother Brown accepted Christ at an early age and joined Olive Branch Baptist Church in Suffolk. After retiring from military service, he made his home in Sumter and became an active member of Beulah African Methodist Episcopal Church.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving and devoted wife, Louise C. Brown; two sons, George Washington Brown Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Reginald M. Brown of the home; one daughter, Angie (Jessie) Windham-Blanding of Dalzell; three sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Titus of Mayesville, Eartha Mae China of Wedgefield and Linda (Willie) Olds of Lake City, Florida; one aunt, Eartha Mae Holmes; three special cousins, Lillian Gaston, the Rev. Dr. Eula Reese and Webster Harris; special friend, Luke Gayle; and a host of special nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Willie Mae Cater; father-in-law, Flander China; mother-in-law, Ella Louise Temoney China; maternal grandparents, John (Eula Howell) Porter; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Brown; brother-in-law, James Titus; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Public viewing will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary with Masonic Rites beginning at 7 p.m.

Mr. Brown will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Beulah AME Church, 3175 Florence Highway, Sumter, SC 29153 with the Rev. Dr. Dwayne Bruce, pastor and eulogist, and the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. at 71 Sally St., Wedgefield, SC 29168.
