James "Glenn" Choat passed away peacefully at Prisma Health Tuomey on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, and went to be with his Lord at the age of 66. He was a son to the late James Choat and Evelyn Scurry Weill. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He loved to hunt, fish and do yard work.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Weill; a sister, Kathy Hudson; and a granddaughter, Sierra Tedder.
Survivors include the love of his life, Beverly Choat, of Sumter; three daughters, Natalie Rico and Jennifer Nyzall, both of Texas, and Olivia Choat (Wayne) of Sumter; three sons, Jason Tedder (Danielle) of Alabama and Jamie Tedder (Dionne) and Corey Tedder, both of Sumter; a sister, Pasty Lockhart of Concord, North Carolina; and 14 grandchildren, Tristin, Annabelle, Asaunti, Jamie Jr., Yazzmeen, Dreyson, Jordan, Tyler, Haley, CJ, Peyton, Jacob, Trey and Caroline; and two nieces of Texas.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tim Brown officiating. The viewing will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 613 Baldwin Drive directly following the funeral.
