LAURETTA TUCKER SIMS

Lauretta "Laura" Tucker Sims, 75, widow of Jack L. "Pete" Sims Sr., died on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on Sept. 18, 1945, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Rotha Mae Richburg Tucker. Mrs. Sims retired from Piggly Wiggly after many years of service.

Survivors include three children, Lena White (Randall) of Dalzell, and Tod Sims (Carol) and J. Legree Sims Jr. (Cynthia), both of Sumter; five grandchildren, Hunter Sims (Becky), Ridge Sims, Summer Sims, Justin White and Heather Stamey (Gerald); two great-grandchildren, Rhett Stamey and Oliver Schafer; one sister, Emma Jean Joyner (Jerry) of Alcolu; one brother, Mike Tucker (Laura) of Sumter; one stepbrother, Walter Tucker of Dalzell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dan Richburg, James Luther Tucker and Tommy Tucker; and two sisters, Shirley Bryant and Geraldine Tucker.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Goff and the Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ridge Sims, Hunter Sims, Gerald Stamey, Brice Helms, Justin White and Robert Bryant.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 866 Griffin St.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
