Lee County School District selected Octavia Anderson as the 2020-21 District Teacher of the Year. Anderson serves as a family and consumer science teacher at the Lee County Career Center and has been a member of the Lee County School District family since 2016.

Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science from Winthrop University, Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas State University and is pursuing a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

When asked what attributes make her a good teacher, Anderson said, "I am patient, compassionate and strive to build caring relationships with my students. It has often been said that students do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. Throughout my 15 years of teaching, I have found that statement to be true, which is why I like to spend the first week of class building relationships with my students and also building a positive learning community within my classroom."

First-grade teacher Tammy Jackson was named Teacher of the Year at Dennis Elementary School.

Jacqueline Helton, third-grade teacher, was named Teacher of the Year at Lower Lee Elementary School.

Fifth-grade teacher Sandra Frazier was named Teacher of the Year at West Lee Elementary School.

Terrijuna Graham, English and language arts teacher, was named Teacher of the Year at Lee Central Middle School.
