Lee County School District has released its plan for its 2020 Lee Central High School graduation.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the district will hold its Lee Central High School Virtual Class Night at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 29, on LCSD Facebook and YouTube.

The drive-through graduation will be held on Saturday, June 6, with a come-and-go ceremony. The ceremony is for the graduate and two guests. Friends and family are encouraged to watch the ceremony online through Facebook or YouTube.

Seniors must wear their caps and gowns to the ceremony and are encouraged to wear a mask during the ceremony. Masks will be provided at checkpoint A if a senior doesn't have one. Masks can be removed briefly during photo session. Seniors are asked to use the graduation car sign received from LCHS administration. If the senior hasn't received one, the student may pick up one at graduation checkpoint B. (see map)

Seniors are asked to sit on the passenger side (either front or back seat) so that they may easily step out of the vehicle to receive the diploma once in the graduation drive-through area. Seniors will be the only ones allowed to exit the vehicle. Guests who want to take video of the senior receiving his or her diploma are encouraged to sit on the right side of the vehicle for a better vantage point.

Arrival times are as follows: Seniors with last names A-E, 9-10 a.m.; seniors with last names F-L, 10-11 a.m.; and seniors with last names M-W, 11 a.m.-noon.Vehicles need to arrive at the LCMS / LCHS campus via S.C. 341 and turn onto Charlene's Lane. This will be the only entrance to the graduation. Place the graduation sign in the middle of the car dashboard so it is visible to members of the graduation committee. Once on Charlene's Lane, follow the directional signs / personnel directing traffic, and turn left into the LCHS Bus Lot (behind the cafeteria).

Seniors will check into the event at checkpoint tent B. At this checkpoint, a graduation committee member will notify checkpoint C of the senior who is ready to enter the graduation ceremony area. The committee member will read the senior's name, abbreviation and table letter (previously assigned).

Once the senior receives the signal to move to checkpoint C, the car will follow the direction of the signs and personnel directing traffic. At checkpoint C, personnel will direct the senior's car. Only the senior will be allowed to get out of the car. Each senior's name will be read upon exiting the vehicle.

Seniors will walk to the designated table (refer to the table listed on graduation car sign) where they will receive the diploma and a gift. Each graduate will then be directed to an area to get a professional photo. Once the photo is taken, the graduate will be directed to get back into the vehicle.

Once the graduate returns to his or her vehicle, the vehicle must exit the bus parking lot. Vehicles may turn either left or right to exit onto S.C. 341.
