SUMMERTON - There is a new reason to stop in Summerton.

The nation's industry-leading travel stop network, Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores, opened its more than 13,300-square-foot location off Interstate 95 in Summerton on Thursday. The store adds 70 jobs and 103 truck parking spaces to Clarendon County.

Love's, with more than 510 locations in 41 states, was founded in 1964 and is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family owned and operated company employs more than 26,000 people.

"Love's is excited to open our 74th location in Texas and our 11th location in South Carolina," said Tom Love, founder and executive chairman of Love's, in a news release. "We're committed to expanding our highway hospitality and adding more easily accessible stops to help get customers back on the road quickly and safely."

The new location, which is open 24/7, will offer many amenities, including:

- A McDonald's and Subway;

Because of COVID-19, Love's, like many other businesses, has adapted in multiple ways. One way is the new Love's Connect app, which provides multiple contactless features to help limit your exposure to others. Love's Mobile Pay allows you to answer prompts, arm the pump and receive a contactless, digital receipt using only your mobile phone from your cab.

Mobile Shower Check In gives My Love Rewards members the contactless option to check in and pay for a shower with My Love Rewards points and credits and tells you when your shower is ready in store.

Lastly, Mobile Receipts provides you access to contactless receipts from all transactions you make where your My Love Rewards card is swiped or scanned. For more information, visit loves.com/app.

In honor of the grand opening, Love's is donating $2,000 to Scott's Branch Middle and High School in Summerton.
