Lt. Col. Robert James Livingston Jr. was born on Nov. 9, 1972, in Prosperity. He departed his earthly life on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his residence in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was the son of Ida Lorraine Harris Livingston and the late Robert James Livingston Sr.

Robert accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. He was a member of Young Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chappells.

After graduating from Greenwood High School, Class of 1991, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. A highly decorated Marine, Robert retired from the military after more than 25 years of service in 2019.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Faith Olivia Livingston of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and her mother, Kristain Rembert-Livingston of Sumter; devoted fiancée, Catherine Wesbey of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his mother, Ida Lorraine Harris Livingston of Greenwood; siblings, Travis (Michelle) Livingston of Anderson and Ebony (Marcus) Jones of Chapin; nieces, Sina (Evin) Sims of Simpsonville, Zaire (Jamarcus) Livingston of Greenwood, Amber (Tyler) Livingston of Simpsonville and Lauren Livingston of Miami, Florida; nephews, Tyler Jones, Ethan Jones and Greyson Jones, all of Chapin; grand-nieces and grand-nephew, Jaziyah Quarles of Greenwood and Nyla Jane Sims and Nolan Sims of Simpsonville; uncles, Eric Harris, Richard Harris and Charles (Kim) Harris, all of Greenwood; and aunts, Gloria (John) Dendy of Ninety Six and Annette (Bruce) Wright of Simpsonville; and a host of cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents James Harris, Maude Harris, Willie Livingston and Vastyne Livingston.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Young Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1896 Chappells Hwy., Chappells, SC 29037, with Pastor Carl Chilies, eulogist, and Elder Barrington Pierson, presiding.

Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, at 2 p.m.

The cortege will leave from 15 English St., Sumter, at 7 a.m.

Family will receive friends at the home of his daughter Faith Olivia Livingston and her mother Kristain L. Rembert-Livingston, 15 English St., Sumter, daily from 3 to 6 p.m.
