A man from Timmonsville was shot to death Friday night at a motel off Interstate-95 near Lynchburg, officials say.

The incident occurred about 9:02 p.m. Oct. 16, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. Tyvon Dickey, 23, was pronounced dead on scene at the Relax Inn Motel on Lynches River Road.

An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday morning at MUSC in Charleston. Dickey’s next of kin has been notified, Baker said.

According to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Dickey suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Sarvis said people of interest have been identified and that Sumter deputies are working with investigators from Lee and Florence county sheriff's offices.

The incident was one of three fatalities that occurred across Sumter County within 45 minutes of each other Friday night. The other two incidents included a motorcycle accident near Shaw Air Force Base and a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 378.
