Nakita N’Shana Perkins, 43, was born July 18, 1980, in Big Spring, Texas. She departed life on March 1, 2024, in Sumter. “Nikki” or “Nana,” as most called her, was born to Brenda Perkins and the late Joe Perkins Sr.

Nakita moved to Sumter with family at an early age. She accepted Christ at an early age and had a passion for life that led her to many discoveries. Nakita was a devoted mother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would find many reasons to get everyone together to party, play cards or just have a family meal. She was a fun-loving person and would sit and talk with you for hours about anything. Nakita loved to be outside and would go fishing whenever she could. One of her best childhood memories was when all the children went fishing with Grammy and Grandpa. Nakita was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Loving memories will be cherished by her three daughters, La’Kendra Perkins, Andrea Spears and Zanaih Spears; mother, Brenda Perkins; grandparents, Dean and Mary Hawkins; two grandchildren, Masiyah Helton and Kaniyah Spears; two brothers, Joe (Athena) and Dean Perkins; sister, Regina (Shawn) Gerald; five nieces, Crystal Spears, Shakeima Lesesne, Kaliante Smith, Aryanna Gerald and Andrea Perkins; three nephews, Shawn Gerald, Joe Perkins III and Kenneth Perkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Perkins Sr.; aunt, Jean Hawkins Lipscomb; and grandmothers, Gloria Hawkins and Annie Mae Perkins.

There will be a host of family members and friends that will be waiting to greet her as she arrives home to sing and walk with her heavenly father.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 1778 Polaris Drive, Sumter.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Apostle Maurice Wells, officiating.

The procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p.m.
