Ollie Mae Pearson, 95, widow of Marion Pearson, was called to her eternal home on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Sumter East Health and Rehab Center.

Born on April 26, 1925, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Lucious Yates and Maggie Lue Butler-Scarborough. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Mt. Olive AME Church, where she was a faithful member of the Women's Mission Society. She was affiliated with several neighborhood organizations and spent countless hours serving the community. Whether it was keeping children, sitting with the elderly, caring for the sick or feeding the hungry, she always managed to be of good service to those in need.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her great-grandson, Laquan Wilson; adopted sister, Allean Jennings; adopted daughters, Patricia (Edward) Byrd and Mary "Ninny" Giles; stepdaughter, Bessie Rhee Mitchell; grandsons, Nathaniel (Wanda) Pearson and Manzie Lovely; a host of great-granddaughters; adopted great-grandsons; extended family members, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 3047 Woodrow Road, Woodrow.

Visitation for family and public viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St. Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Cooksfield Cemetery, JD Herriot Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph L. Brown, pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church, officiating.

The procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from the home.
