Roy David Branham, 80, widower of Simplicia “Pat” Mesa Branham, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at the Rice Estate Assisted Living in Columbia.
Born Sept. 1, 1944, in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late George Branham and the late Hannah Crossland Branham. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from Color Fi. He enjoyed tinkering with and repairing small engines. He also enjoyed the lifestyle and culture of Guam where he met his wife whom he cherished for 49 years until her death in 2018.
Survivors include two children, Victor Branham and Patricia Scott (Robert), both of Sumter; four grandchildren, Taylor McLeod (Geoffrey), Cameron Branham, Hannah Kate Branham and Sarah Grace Scott; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dwight “Donnie” Branham of Manning; two sisters, Wanda Smith of Columbia, and Myrea Coker of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, 5 Sweetbriar Court, Sumter.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all of Mr. Branham’s caregivers and the staff of Rice Estate Assisted Living for the care they provided.
