TURBEVILLE - East Clarendon High School will honor its 2020 seniors with a parade through Turbeville beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday.

"We want everyone to come out and support our seniors," said ECHS Principal Jason Cook. "I know it's a tough weekend with Memorial Day, but we wanted to show our support for all of their hard work and determination."

Cook said he has encouraged the seniors to decorate their vehicles to showcase their high school honors, career choice or where they're going to college.

"I've talked to seniors, and this is something that they really want to do," he said. "This year has been a first time for many of us and a first time for the Class of 2020."

Cook said he'd love to see folks lining the street, while respecting social distancing, with signs, balloons, banners and lots of cheering in a show of support for this year's seniors.

Clarendon 3 Superintendent Dr. Connie Dennis said she's proud of the way the district's teachers, administrative staff and personnel have responded to the difficulties the COVID-19 pandemic has caused Clarendon 3 and schools across the nation.

"Our teachers and administrators have really stepped forward," she said. "Walker-Gamble teachers took the school's utility bus this past week and visited some of their students. That was really sweet. They had the chance to see their students, and the students were excited to see their teachers."
