SHIRLEY CORNELIA RAY ASHMORE

Shirley Cornelia Ray Ashmore, age 72, beloved wife of John Charles Ashmore, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late Hosea McKenzie and Teenie Ray Atkinson. Mrs. Ashmore was a life member of the VFW 3034 Auxiliary and former president, life member of the DAVA, DAVA Unit 28 commander, DAVA state commander, DAVA National VAVS representative, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 Zone 4 vice president and District 2 president. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Brian Walston and his wife, Debra, and Brett Walston and his wife, Beverly, all of Sumter; one stepson, Paul Ashmore and his wife, Missy, of Wheeling, West Virginia; nine brothers and sisters; six grandchildren, Kayla, Chase, Tanner, Tyler, Ben and Sammie; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan and Jackson.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy McDonald officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
