Sumter High School students donate supplies to nurses

The Sumter High School Student Government Association Junior Class held a fundraiser earlier this year to purchase supplies for health care workers on the front lines of the pandemic. Their community service project goal was to "think outside the box." Knowing how easy it is to become dehydrated while working on a patient floor with masks and other protective equipment, they chose to donate lip balm, lotion and water to the nurses, technicians and support staff who care for COVID-19 patients at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. The goodie bags also included hair ties and candy. Pictured with Tuomey Chief Nursing Officer Terrie Carlton are Abbey-Grace Bryant and Mia Bagwell, juniors, and SGA adviser Dana Mitchell.
