Sumter man, 31, dies in single-vehicle wreck

A Sumter man died after a single vehicle wreck early Wednesday.
Kyle Dukes, 31, was pronounced dead on scene, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.
The wreck occurred at about 1:20 a.m. on Beckwood Road, when Dukes was traveling north and went off the roadway and struck a ditch, said South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. David Jones. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed Friday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
