Sumter Master Gardeners will sell plants, share knowledge

Posted

Sumter Master Gardeners will once again set up at the entrance to the Bland Gardens side of Swan Lake this weekend during Iris Festival to sell beautiful Japanese iris they have grown, along with a variety of plants grown in the individual gardens of members. Many "passalong plants," perennials, shrubs and trees will be available for sale. Preliminary signups show there will be curly willow, liriope, crinum lilies, amsonia, solomon's seal, arborvitae, carnivorous plants, brugmansias, bearded iris, ginger lilies, hostas, hydrangeas, fig trees and much more - all hardy in this area and sure to enhance area gardens. Sales will begin Friday and continue through Sunday afternoon, coinciding with regular Iris Festival hours. Customers will be able to pick up larger plants after purchase by driving through the parking lot to the gate off Liberty Street. Master Gardeners will also be available to answer gardening questions.
