Sumter Today: Community leaders alter their Memorial Day program due to COVID-19

A family fun day and fish fry has been held for almost a decade in South Sumter Park to commemorate Memorial Day. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the event was modified to a drive through. Event organizers still made about 300 meals on Monday for veterans, their families and the community who lined up for a drive through outside the park's community center to receive their fried fish and an American flag to go.
