Sumter Today: Alice Drive Middle School marks another STEM milestone

Alice Drive Middle School made waves when it became nationally STEM certified in 2015.
Then, they had five STEM-specific elective classes focusing on science, technology, engineering and math curriculum.
Now, the middle school has 15 STEM electives, and STEM is integrated into all content areas.
This month, Alice Drive became the first middle school in the nation to achieve the national recertification and just the fourth overall to wave the recertification banner.
We stopped by the school to get a peak at their celebration and learn more about why they think STEM is important.
