Sumter Today: Anyone aged 16 or over is now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine in South Carolina

Posted

Starting today, anyone aged 16 or over is now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine in South Carolina.
The expansion to Phase 1C came sooner than originally planned, and anyone can find where there are open appointments at vaxlocator.dhec.sc.gov. That’s vax (vax) locator.dhec.sc.gov.
Since 16 and 17 year olds are considered minors by Prisma Health, they cannot register directly through MyChart.
To make an appointment for a minor through Prisma Health, call 1-833-2-PRISMA or their Prisma Health physician to get an activation link.
With that link , they will be able to register themselves.
