Sumter School District is set to return to its hybrid learning model on Monday.

After conducting classes all virtually since mid-December, all schools and grades will begin their A-B Group schedules at the beginning of February. New daily case counts have started to decrease in the area and across the state after a peak on January 8. As vaccines continue to rollout, it appears teachers are next in line to gain access to the shots, but that recommendation hasn’t been finalized or implemented yet.

With the return to any in-school options for students, that also mean Sumter’s public schools can resume athletics.
