Sumter Today: The Sumter Sharks hit the field under the Friday night lights.

Sumter has its very own semi-pro football team, and they took on the Smoky Mountain Ravens in Bishopville last Friday.

The Sumter Sharks are members of the Independent American Football League, a 3-year-old semi-pro league.

Since the league’s launch in 2017, the Sharks have already won a IAFL championship, which they’re defending this year with players ranging in age from 18 to 52.
