Thank you to cookie bakers for sweetening holidays for Shaw friends

Thanks community cookie bakers! You "Showered Shaw" with 3,696 dozen cookies in our 26th endeavor to sweeten up the holidays for our friends at Shaw. That's 44,252 cookies from a caring Sumter community. More than 3,000 cards accompanied the sweet treats delivered again this year to the Visitors Center at Swan Lake. We are grateful to the City of Sumter for its use.

Bethany Baptist is the 2018 Cookie Champion with 500 dozen, followed by Shiloh UMC (280 dozen), Lakewood High School (248 dozen), Crestwood High School (200 dozen), Pocalla Springs (173 dozen), Sumter High SGA (154 dozen), Sumter Career Center (144 dozen), First Presbyterian Church (132 dozen), Westminister Presbyterian (128.5 dozen), Shaw Heights (113 dozen), Crosswell Elementary School (106 dozen), Oakland Elementary School (105 dozen),Goodwill Presbyterian Church (92.5 dozen),Lemira Elementary School (90 dozen), Alice Drive Middle School (85 dozen), Kingsbury Elementary School (81 dozen), R.E. Davis Elementary School (72 dozen), Cherryvale Elementary School (69 dozen), Willow Drive Elementary School (67 dozen), Grace Baptist Church (66.5 dozen), Ebenezer Middle School (61 dozen), Chestnut Oaks Middle School (60 dozen), Manchester Middle School (58 dozen), Alice Drive Elementary School, High Hills, Rafting Creek (53 dozen each), Furman Middle School and Wilder Elementary School (52 dozen each). Thanks to these leaders! Other schools providing cookies were Alice Drive Elementary, Bates Middle, Hillcrest Middle, Manchester, Millwood, AEOPSC, District Office and USC Sumter. Other community bakers were Harmony Church, Girl Scouts of St. Anne, St. Jude, DAR, National Healthcare Center, VFW Post 396, Bishopville and a number of individuals. Thanks to each of you!

Special thanks to Michelle Robinson, Kathleen Head, Judy Burket, National Honor Society members Chris Ackerman, Sierra Follin, Faith Howard, Jonathan Jones, Jada Pressley and sponsor Lisa Sanderson for their outstanding assistance receiving and unloading cookies and also helping Shaw Chairwoman Michelle Rivers and her group with packing and loading the Shaw truck.

Once again during another Christmas season, this community tradition involving so many of all ages has provided an opportunity to remind Shaw of our appreciation and support.
