Three physicians have joined the Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital Pediatric Hospitalist practice; they will partner with local providers to serve pediatric patients in Sumter as part of Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Midlands.

"The establishment of the Tuomey Pediatric Hospitalist service is part of our belief that the best care should be delivered locally," said Caughman Taylor, MD, senior medical director for the Children's Hospital. "We have assembled a superstar team that will provide state-of-the-art, evidenced-based care to our pediatric patients in the Sumter community. The hospitalist service, combined with our expansion of telehealth services and support and the provision of subspecialist satellite clinics in Sumter, will deliver significantly improved access and care to the Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital community."

Hospital Chief Operating Officer Michelle Logan-Owens said Tuomey Hospital is excited to welcome Monica McCutcheon, MD, Whitney Moses Przybyla, MD, and Alexander Wagner, MD to the Tuomey family.

"Together with our partners at Children's Hospital, we are going to build a quality-focused, patient-centered pediatric hospitalist program so that residents of Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties can receive these important services close to home," she said.

All three physicians received their medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

McCutcheon will serve as the medical director for Pediatric and Newborn Services. She completed her pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital and has extensive experience in neonatal care, completing parts of a neonatal fellowship and serving as a newborn hospitalist and in a private practice.

Moses completed her pediatric residency at Greenville Memorial Hospital and then joined the AnMed/GHS Pediatric Hospitalist group. After moving back to her hometown of Sumter, she joined the pediatrics team at the Sumter Family Health Center, which later became Tandem Health Pediatrics.

Wagner completed his pediatrics residency at Prisma Health Children's Hospital and a sports medicine fellowship at Prisma Health.
