Sumter Police Department has arrested two men in connection to the fatal shooting at Sleep Inn in August.

Saquan Logan, 20, of Sumter, and Tyriq Demari Spann, 19, of Dalzell, were found dead at the hotel on Aug. 18 after a shooting call came in at 4:30 a.m.

Based on information gathered, the police department was able to identify Toney Williams Jr., 23, and Tavion Melki Mickens, 19, both of Wedgefield, for their alleged involvement.

He was identified and located at a Georgia jail after he was stopped for speeding and also charged with possession of a weapon, McGirt said. Mickens was extradited to Sumter and booked at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on Sept. 7.
