2nd suspect arrested in connection to fatal shooting of Sumter teen

Further investigation has led to a second arrest in the shooting death of Jayvion Jones and the wounding of another teen.

Henry Jahil Brown, 19, of Sumter, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 27, in connection to a shooting in which six juveniles were fired upon while in a vehicle on Sept. 3 in Dalzell, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Out of the six, one 16-year-old was wounded, and Jones, who was also 16, was killed, Bordeaux said.

Brown was charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a vehicle while occupied and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Bordeaux said. He was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where his bond was denied.

Brown is the second to be arrested after Jonathan Brown, 17, was arrested on Sept. 11 and charged with  murder, five counts of attempted murder, discharging firearm into a vehicle while occupied, possession of a stolen pistol, possession of a pistol by a person under 18, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and trafficking in fentanyl, Bordeaux said.
