City of Manning Planning Commission meets Oct. 14

MANNING - The City of Manning Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in Council Chambers, Manning City Hall. A site plan review for property at 580 S. Mill St., zoned general commercial, is a new request on the agenda. Individuals who need auxiliary aids for effective communication at the meeting should contact Veronica Green at (803) 435-8477, extension 5118, 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Turbeville Ruritan Club Stump Meeting on Oct. 17

TURBEVILLE - The Turbeville Ruritan Club is sponsoring a Stump Meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Pine Grove Gymnasium, 1090 Morgan St. The meeting is free and open to the public.

State and local candidates on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot are invited to attend. Candidates need to RSVP to turbevilleruritan@gmail.com.

2024 Francis Marion Symposium Oct. 18 and 19

MANNING - Attention all Revolutionary War enthusiasts.

The 2024 Francis Marion Symposium will be held Friday-Saturday, Oct. 18-19, at F.E. DuBose Campus. Take Interstate 95 and Exit 122 to 3351 Sumter Highway.

The symposium will explore the Revolutionary War campaigns while immersing attendees in Francis Marion's world and the importance of the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution.

The symposium will feature educational lectures, history enthusiasts and dinner theaters.

CCFR Safety Day Oct. 26 includes Trunk or Treat

MANNING - Clarendon County Fire Rescue's annual Community Safety Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road.

The free event will include "Trunk or Treat," food, candy and lots of other fun activities. Children can even wear their costumes.

Fire trucks, ambulances, a medical helicopter, law enforcement vehicles, tractors and more cool stuff will be there.

Halloween Trunk or Treat at Walker Gamble Park Oct. 30

NEW ZION - A Halloween Trunk or Treat will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Walker Gamble Park, 2158 Walker Gamble Road.Folks will be able to enjoy candy, activities and games.

K&H Resource Center Adult Sneaker Ball Dec. 21

SUMMERTON - The Second-annual K&H Resource Center Fundraiser "Steppin' into the Holidays" Adult Sneaker Ball will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Clarendon County Resource Center Gym, 1154 Fourth St.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $25 each, and reserved tables seating eight are available for $200.

Duckfest is Nov. 2, Miss Duckfest pageant on Oct. 13

PINEWOOD - The 10th-annual Duckfest will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Camp Woodie, 8444 Old River Road, Pinewood SC 29125.

The Miss Duckfest pageant will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Weldon Auditorium.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, dozens of events will be held at Camp Woodie including a cornhole tournament, dog retrieving demonstration, Duckfest Cook-Off, car show, Clarendon County Fire Rescue demonstration, lots of delicious food and many more games and fun activities.

2024 Duckfest hats are on sale. Camo boony hats are $35 each, and Richardson 112 trucker hats are $25 each.
