It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kelly S. Smith, age 62, of Sumter, South Carolina, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 15, 2024.

Born on Aug. 23, 1962, in Sumter, she was raised in Pinewood, where her love for family and faith was nurtured.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Smith and Margaret Smith McIntosh of Pinewood.

Kelly dedicated her life to serving the Lord and shared her love of music as the pianist at Pinewood Baptist Church for 28 years. Her music touched the hearts of many and was a reflection of her deep devotion and faith.

For many years, she worked as the benefits coordinator at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, where her kindness, compassion and love of people left a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served.

Above all, Kelly cherished her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Paul Smith; her two daughters, Christina McIntosh (Joseph) of Pinewood and Johni McElveen (Will) of Andrews; and five beloved grandchildren, Griffin McIntosh, Charley McIntosh, Lynlee Kate McElveen, Reid McElveen and Faith McIntosh; her sister, Rhonda Harris (David) of Pinewood; special nieces Mary Ann Baker (Joe), Danielle Welch (Daniel) and Lilly Grace Harris, as well as other cherished nieces and nephews. She found great joy in spending time with her family, especially enjoying gatherings on the family farm and the laughter and love shared with her grandchildren.

Kelly will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family and her dedication to her church. Her life was a beautiful example of service, love and grace, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at Pinewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Gray and the Rev. Bennie Barwick officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at Pinewood Baptist Church and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pinewood Baptist Church Music Ministry in her honor, 10 E. Fulton St., Pinewood, SC 29125.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
