Social Justice Consortium hosts Candidate Forum next week at Westend Community Church

It's October in an election year, and that means candidate forums.

The Sumter-based Social Justice Consortium will host its own Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at Westend Community Church, according to group President Chuck Wilson, who spoke this week to The Sumter Item.

The forum will be at Westend Community Church, 101 S. Salem St.

Candidates for mayor of the City of Sumter, Sumter School Board, Sumter City Council, Sumter County Council, local Statehouse and local Congressional races have been invited to participate, he said. Additionally, public officials who are running unopposed have been invited to bring greetings.

The event will conclude with a meet and greet, Wilson added.

Forum co-sponsors include AKA Sorority and other members of the Divine Nine Greek letter organizations.
